Advancing Equitable Community-based Transportation Planning |
Our new report, co-produced with the Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Davis, explores ways to build equity into transportation planning and implementation in California. |
Transportation equity is essential for mobility and belonging, from caring for and connecting with loved ones, to accessing quality food, healthcare, jobs, and other necessities of life. But the way that transportation systems have historically been developed has caused inequities. Our new report, "Advancing Equitable Community-based Transportation Planning," looks at how community-based transportation planning programs can advance social equity and climate solutions.

The report examines two clean mobility programs launched by the California Air Resources Board which are meant to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while addressing transportation inequities. Our evaluation identified successes in the clean mobility programs, as well as challenges, including the need to overcome a legacy of distrust between state government and equity-seeking communities. |

In March 2020, only a couple weeks after we were sent to work from home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we released a mapping project to identify at-risk populations throughout California who could suffer disproportionately as a consequence of the virus. We later expanded the project to cover the entire country. |
